Create a yarn sample card

Wrap a short sample loosely around a card without stretching it. Record the yarn’s label information, source and date. Keep care instructions and fiber details together, especially when the sample may be used in a later project.

Describe what you notice about texture, thickness and twist. Use your own words and compare samples under similar conditions. If you are experimenting with handspun yarn, record the process you actually used.

Add a photograph of any small test fabric made from the yarn. A strand and a finished fabric can give different impressions. Keeping both observations makes the card more useful.
